Study Planner

A Moodle-native, cross-course study planner. Study Planner reads deadlines from every enrolled course, combines them with each student's declared availability, and builds an automatically rescheduling Today/Week plan - with reminders, personal tasks, a calendar feed, and an optional dashboard block.

Overview Features Requirements FAQ Support

Study Planner is a Moodle-native, cross-course personal study planner. Instead of leaving students to track deadlines across every course themselves, it reads upcoming assignments, quizzes, choices, workshops and lessons from all of a student's enrolled courses and turns them into one unified, prioritised plan.

Each student declares their own weekly availability - which days they can study and for how long - and a rule-based scheduling engine allocates study sessions day by day, splitting longer tasks into manageable segments and respecting session-length and break preferences. Overdue and urgent work is automatically prioritised over lower-priority tasks.

The Today and This Week views give students a clear, actionable plan they can mark complete, skip, or reschedule with one click. Missed sessions are automatically flagged and can be rescheduled to the next available slot, with a full audit trail. Students can also add their own personal (non-Moodle) tasks - like "buy textbook" or "attend revision session" - directly into the same plan.

A daily reminder notification is sent at each student's own preferred local time, and a personal iCalendar feed lets students subscribe to their study plan from Google Calendar, Outlook or any calendar app. Teachers can set how long each course activity should take students to study and how important it is, so the scheduler reflects real course workload rather than guesswork.

Study Planner ships as two lightweight Moodle plugins under one licence: the core local_studyplanner plugin, and an optional block_studyplanner dashboard widget that surfaces today's next few sessions directly on the Dashboard or My Moodle page.

Full Moodle Privacy API (GDPR) support is built in, since study plan data is personal to each student regardless of which course it relates to.
